DRIVEN TO VICTORY BY JAY CHRISTNER
Prepared by: Janine Lang

Jay Christner and GV Sir Tux traveled 16 plus hours over the Labor Day(2004) holiday weekend to Goshen, New York, to race at the track where Harness Racing all began. 18 other Indiana residents, consisting of family, friends, and fellow racers, joined Jay for the events in New York. All together, the Indiana group took 11 horses to race, but the top horse by far was GV Sir Tux.

In 2002, GV Sir Tux broke the World Record at the half-mile track in Goshen, Indiana, with a win time of 58.3 seconds. Before that, Shamrock Shady owned the World Record, with a time of 59 seconds.

Once again, on August 31, 2003, GV Sir Tux broke his own All-Time Record and World Record on a half-mile track with a win time of 58 seconds flat in Goshen, New York. Tux started the weekend events breaking the track record with a win time of 59.2 seconds, and just kept getting faster!

GV Sir Tux was born in 1994 in Shipshewana, Indiana at GV Stables. His Sire is Shamrock Tuxedo and his Dam is Sally’s Honor. GV Sir Tux was sold in the ITPA Sale as a yearling in 1995 and was bought by Jay Christner of Middlebury, Indiana, who still owns and races him today.

Jay, his wife Crystal, and their three children live outside of Middlebury. GV Sir Tux is stabled and trained at Jay’s parents in Shipshewana. Jay has been racing horses more than half of his life, starting when he was just 15 years old.
